Backyard Weddings: An Interview with Thymebase

Thymebase, a new event planning software platform

Last month I was introduced to a new project management tool built specifically for event and wedding planning—and if you know me at all, you know that I obsess over new tools like this! It is called Thymebase and I have really enjoyed not only using this tool, but getting to know the team behind the tool.

I signed up for a demo with the CEO, David Jacobson to learn more about the tool and it turned into a great chat among two people who love project management, UX design and product development—and of course event planning! The team at Thymebase is very motivated and responsive to making this platform exactly what planners like myself need. We looked at future roadmap planning together, swapped new feature ideas and geeked out over all things productivity.

Just a few days later David reached out to see if I would be interested in an interview about backyard weddings. During our previous discussion, we of course talked about what COVID is doing to weddings these days, which led me to talking about my experience and love for an intimate backyard wedding, and the team at Thymebase wanted to hear more. I was so excited! Of course I was up for it!!

Our Interview at a Glance

The following week I was introduced to Dean Levitt, Co-founder of Thymebase. We synced up on Zoom for our interview. Dean had a list of questions ready to go and I was eager to share my experiences. We covered so many important topics related to creating the backyard wedding of your dreams.

It’s an intimate room full of love!

You might be feeling down about downsizing your big wedding, but I really love the intimacy caused by these smaller gatherings in a personal space. Read more about my backyard wedding success on the blog.

Be sure you have all the utilities you need.

Do you have enough power to fun the lights and music? Does the catering staff have efficient space to operate out of? Do you have adequate restroom facilities for your guests? What about your bar plan? Check out my advice on how to properly plan for these topics and more.

Won’t the weather ruin my wedding?

It rained and poured on my wedding day, but that did not stop us from having the best day of our lives (and don’t worry, it didn’t rain all day!) The weather might have you stressed, but a backyard venue gives you flexibility on how to navigate inclement weather. Read more tips on how to manage your day if the weather is looking gloom.

Personal and long lasting decor.

One of my favorite reasons for having a backyard wedding is the personal connection you have with the space. It is a place you can always go back and visit and remember the vows you exchanged and all the heartwarming moments you shared with family and friends. Plus, it gives you a great excuse to spruce up your property for the wedding day and beyond. Check out my decor ideas on the blog.

I had so much fun doing this interview and sharing my ideas for backyard weddings. I think they are here to stay and I encourage everyone to give this venue some serious consideration. It just might be what your dreams are made of after all!
